We have been trying to reach Officer Ferguson for weeks to update the blog. We just got a response:
Sorry for the delay in reply, I have been on vacation for the past 3 weeks. Through management, I obtained the resident’s name and telephone number. He fails to answer the telephone or door, therefore I passed the report to the State’s Attorney’s office for further action. If they decide to pursue, they will issue a warrant. If there is anything further I can assist with, let me know.
We may have to proceed with Plan B: Public Shaming (or: The Iron Fist of Vigilante Justice).
Hi guys, I’ve been checking this site regularly for an update. Has anything happened? Is Jerry still roaming free, still gumming poor bicycles?
As far as we know, he’s still roaming free. Our agents in the building have not reported any additional gummings, but the gumming pretty effectively deterred anyone from leaving bikes out. No word from the state’s attorney either. I have occasional fantasies about the local news picking up the story and Jerry getting blacklisted from buying gum at the corner store.
